Before You Begin Installing Tile Flooring
Installing a tile floor is a pretty safe project for a seasoned do-it-yourselfer.
The first thing you need to do when installing a tile floor in a bathroom, is to turn off the water and remove the toilet before you begin. Remove any molding or baseboards and then it will be easy to remove whatever floor covering is on the floor now.
The most important thing to do before you start laying that new tile, is making sure that the surface you are putting the new tile on is scraped completely clean of any adhesive that may still be on there and that it is dry.
If you are making a design with the tile, you can make cardboard templates of the tile and lay it out first to make sure the design will work and will look the way you want it to.
You will need a tile cutter to cut the last few pieces of tile to cover the entire floor and to cut around the toilet opening if it is a bathroom.
Once the tile is finished, complete the floor by filling in the spaces with grout and you are done.
